Building Foundations in Leadership

Junior Assistants work in beginner-level classes with dancers ages 3–9 under the guidance of MADA faculty. This is an ideal role for students beginning to explore leadership and responsibility in a supportive environment!

Junior Assistant Responsibilities 

• Arrive 15 minutes prior to class starting

• Welcome students into the classroom

• Assist with transitions, shoes, and class routines

• Demonstrate warm-ups and movements

• Escort dancers to the lobby or restroom when needed

• Lead small groups during teacher-led activities

• Help set up props and light cleaning

• Assist teacher in writing postcards for students once per season

Compensation

• This is an unpaid, mentored role

Leading with Confidence, Compassion, and Care

Assistants are experienced studio leaders who support faculty in both beginner and intermediate-level classes. They are expected to model professionalism, maturity, and studio values. In addition to their own responsibilities, Assistants should be fully capable of performing all duties and meeting all expectations required of Junior Assistants.

What They Do

• Demonstrate technique with clarity

• Lead transitions, small groups, and warm-ups

• Encourage and correct with kindness and clarity

• Assist in mentoring Junior Assistants in bi-monthly meetings

• Support Recital performances, rehearsals, and classroom setup

Priority for future paid opportunities

All Ambassadors are expected to:

• Arrive 10–15 minutes early for their shift

• Check in with the instructor before and after class

• Wear designated Ambassador attire

• Maintain a tidy, professional appearance, including a slick hairstyle with no pieces falling in the face

• Refrain from using cell phones while assisting

• Notify staff ahead of any absences

• Model kindness, humility, and respect

• Be supportive, professional, and discreet in class

• Assist in Recital preparation 

Selection & Training

Selection is based on application and is focused on character, not just technical skill.
Ideal candidates are:

• Consistently prepared and reliable

• Coachable and respectful

• Positive role models in and out of the classroom
  
  

All Ambassadors will complete:

• Orientation & leadership training

• Ongoing mentoring and seasonal evaluations
  
  

Bi-monthly workshops on communication, classroom management, and teaching

• Ambassadors are expected to honor their commitments.
  
  

• Two missed assisting classes without notice may result in temporary removal from the Ambassador Program.
  
  

Students who demonstrate maturity and consistency may be considered for future teaching or paid roles.

To support the continued development of our Ambassadors, a one time fee of $50 will be applied during the season. This helps cover:

• Leadership development meetings and mentorship sessions

• An official MADA Ambassador t-shirt

• Program materials and resources

• Ongoing guidance and feedback from MADA faculty
  

This small monthly investment supports a big opportunity for your dancer to grow in confidence, responsibility, and leadership.
